Lighting 2
The lighting for our piece is going to be important, this is because it is in a dark place so we are going to have to use some sort of artificial light in order to see the character during the opening scene, the light must have an urban effect and as well as this it must show that the place is intimidating to the general public.
Props 2
Cigarettes and Beer- The group of youths will have cigarettes and beers to add to the element of fear and to show that they are misbehaving in the local area.
The shopping- The man will have a shopping bag, this is because he is on his way home from the shop, he drops his shopping as the youths assault him.
Ipod/ Docking station- The group of lads will have music placying from and ipod and dock. This will show the effect that they have on the surrounding area.

Costumes 2
Costumes are very important in telling the viewer a bit more about the characters.
The Gang- The gang will be wearing hoodies and either trackies or jeans, some of them will wear a cap, the theme of their clothing will be urban and modern.
The man- The man will be wearing resonably smart clothing, to show that he is of better wealth than the gang. He will probably be wearing a smart jacket and trousers, also he may be wearing a smart shirt.

Conventions 2
There are many conventions of a thriller that we would like to use in our opening scene, I am just explaing a few of them.
This is a picture from the film scum, it is an example of how we would like the man to be looking up at the group as he is thrown to the ground.
This shot is taken from the classic film The Krays, this is a very good example of an over the should shot that we can use when the man is talking to the youths.
This is the sort of grime scene that suits our film so i thought that this establishing shot will show the scale of the interest. Music is also an important factor of a thriller and this shot shows the type of music we are going for.
This is from the film Tyson, it is seen in the opening credits and it gives us an example of what we can do when editing our piece, for example in this shot we can see that they have blacked out the background which makes mike tyson stand out in the shot.
Certification
With every film there is a certification, the bbfc assign every film with a certificate for example the dark knight is a 12a.
We have decided that our is going to be given a rating of 15, this is because it involves violence, strong language and would not suit the viewing of a younger person.

No-one younger than 15 may see a ‘15’ film in a cinema. No-one younger than 15 may rent or buy a ‘15’ rated video work.
A film that is similar to our film is Adulthood, this also has a film rating of 15 for the same reasons as ours.

Lighting
Our opening scene is going to be filmed in quite a dark light as you wont get that many groups of youths hanging about during the day drinking beer so we think it will make it much more realistic if we filmed it at late evening/night. But once our assault scene has taken place and it moves to the next scene which will be light so the camera can see all the photos of the youths clearly and see the credits come up. It shows the audience that the 40 year old man is going to get revenge.
Props
Shopping bag - It implies that the man is just a general man doing some shopping minding his own business.
Cigarettes and bottles of beer - Shows the audience that the youths are up to no good and breaking the law by drinking underage.
We might have a brick involved in our assault scene we haven't quite decided yet but if we do have one it will be there to give off the image that the youths are horrible people and the use of a weapon on the man will build up tension in our opening scene.
Photos - We will need many photos of each youth in different places and different shots of there faces as they will be pasted all over the 40 year olds man wall to show our audience that the man is going after them for revenge.

Costumes
The 40 year old man will be dressed reasonably smart to give the audience the impression that he is a slightly higher class business man.
The people around on the street will be dressed in average clothes to show the audience that it is set in just a normal village nothing really fancy but then again far from being a dump.
The youths will be dressed in trackies and hoddies to give everyone the idea that they aren't very nice people and they are slightly thugs ish.

Actors
I thought as and idea to get the actors in the right mindset of the characters I would think of some famous actors that would suit the roles. In this I have decided to choose big Hollywood actors for the man, however i have gone for young British hard men for the gang.
The Man:
Mel Gibson, Ed Norton, Nicholas Cage, Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Ray Winstone and Ewan McGregor
The Gang: Benjamin Paul Ballance-Drew (plan b), Adam deacon, Devlin, JaJa Soze and Bronson Webb

Sound
Music will be very important to set the scene, this is because it can be the make or break moment for creating the atmosphere.
Their will need to be music at the beginning, during the gang scene and while we see the credits.
Another important piece of sound that we need to consider is the dialogue that we will here during the opening scene. The only true piece of dialogue that we will need is when the man approaches the gang. The voices will be different as the man will be polite and well spoken, however the gang will speak in an urban and abusive way.

Props and Costumes for our film
40 year old man- Shopping bag with items in. The man will be dressed quite smartly with a nice approach to the society. Smart jeans and a nice jumper and coat or in a suit with a coat over the top.
Gang- Cigarettes, bottles of beer and maybe a brick. They will be dressed as chavs so they will be wearing trackies, hoodies and looking like thugs to give the impression that there not very nice people.
The mans room- Photos of the chavs all over the walls, we need to make the room make it look like a normal room just with loads of images of teenagers all over it.
